My Mission

The mission is to spur movement. I want to stir up further momentum in the field of social justice, inner city educational empowerment, and on the connectedness and development of reform in between government and community.
I have had the unique opportunity to live a life at the ends of two unique spectrums. As mentioned earlier, I grew up in an inner city community alongside childhood friends that took to gang activity rather than seeking an education. School felt like a hurdle that students were lead through by staff (not all staff) simply to finish the race. Faculty was often so busy with the task of seeking to establish control of the school daily rather than casting a vision for the student body and thrusting them into their greater calling.
I grew up feeling the weight of saving the world on my shoulders. Though I couldn’t help everyone, I still wanted to. There was no thing I desired more as a young child stepping into manhood than to see people who were broken be mended, refreshed and ready to repair that that had been fractured in their lives. I know my purpose, and as a child I have always been connected to this assignment.
My mission is to be a bearer of peace and a voice of enlightenment. I want to be a person whose mission is marked by careful strategy and preparation. I have a deep zeal for learning, and digging into various works and figures that help me better understand the way we interact with the world around us, along with the narrative behind certain policies and perceptions we carry as a people. It excites me to develop a network of knowledge and literature that are an asset to creating real lasting solutions to a problem when in affiliation with one another. I want that to be an instrument at the disposal of all families that is well trained and developed.
I believe I have been given the tools, fervency, and focus to carry out this work. I know every passion and role I have taken on up to this point has prepared me for a time such as this. From my upbringing in my neighborhood to my study as a Sociology major, as well as the experience I have had the chance to attain in various fields of social justice, education, and leadership—I feel joined to this mission.
More than anything, I am fastened to this mission because of my faith and the principals I stand on that are a result of my faith. I am called to love God and also love my neighbor and as Isaiah 1:17 states, “Learn to do good; Seek justice, Reprove the ruthless, Defend the orphan, Plead for the widow.” At the center of my calling, values, vision and mission lies the understanding that I claim to be a follower of Jesus Christ and because I do, I submit to what He has gifted me to do at this time, that being to be a Connector that arouses Movement on the political, social, and relational realm of justice.
